Glass! Glass! Glass!
As demountable, (aka movable, modular, partition..), walls continue to gain popularity in the interior wall industry, certain trends within these demountable walls gain popularity as well. While there are tons of finishes that can be achieved by using demountable interior walls; from fabrics, marker boards, and vinyls, to laminates, woods, cork-boards and more, the most popular these days is glass. Being the coolest kid in school isn’t simple.
Glass itself can be finished in a variety of ways from etched, laminated, and back-painted, to recycled, resins, polymers and more. The key feature to glass is that it can provide visual privacy by being opaque, yet still allow enough light to travel through your space resulting in worker efficiency and environmental happiness. Aesthetically this benefit cannot be reached when using other finishes as you can see in the picture of Environmental Wall Systems wall panels above as the light flows throughout the space.
Another benefit of glass is that it can be customized with company logo’s and branding, as well as employee names and titles. Glass can also have nearly any material out there sandwiched in between two pieces to create unique walls for your office, see the other picture above of Environmental Wall Systems wall with bamboo chutes inserted into a glass resin provided by 3form.
Finally, glass is sustainable in a couple of ways. As seen in the pictures the Environmental Wall Systems glass panels are 100% reusable, keeping the materials out of the landfill and giving them a sustainable future. Glass can also be easily recycled so when it reaches its lifetime on your project it can be broken down and used again on another project.
